Geo Martinez Responds To AJ Agazarm With Maturity and Poise

While AJ Agazarm has been all about the WWE approach to his jiu jitsu career a subtle approach does sometimes work. While Denny Prokopos threw child like tantrums to Agazarm’s gauntlet Geo Martinez held back and ultimately acknowledged that at one time his response would’ve mirrored Agazarm but also that there’s something to be gained in being above the provocation.

First off Geo shared that this situation somewhat mirrors his dance crew experience:

I’m going to be real with you. I’ve been in this game for awhile. I was traveling the world fighting my way through life as a bboy by 17. In that scene this kind of shit talking back and forth is the norm. Every crew are rivals. Every battle feels like a personal fight. I loved it for what it was, it was hype and during those younger years I had that fire and anger to fight against it.

As a reminder Geo got his black belt in remarkable time exactly because of the gift of breakdancing experience as the two skills turned out to be complementary.

Further he shared just what makes maturity and his life work right now:

You want to know what’s actually scary? What really tests you and forces you to grow?
Commitment.
Love.
Honesty.
Opening a gym.
Building and standing behind a crew day after day, year after year something you might never have.

I have found these test me far more than the child like behavior I was into before.

Just look at the image you chose and the post you’ve written vs mine. You’re alone, playing theater, attempting to follow through with this fake character you have created. I’m around a family which took years of commitment, hard work and loyalty, speaking my mind freely, being real, not a fake character.

I know who I am, where I stand and who stands behind me.
Life is simple.
All I need is good food, good people and something to get ready for.
Do you know who you are AJ?
