Soul Fighters BJJ’s Filipe Braga Costa is mighty pissed off. When Chael Sonnen decided to launch his submission only grappling event Costa was excited to face off with UFC’s former competitor Kenny Florian.
Florian, 40, was a player often able against the most prestigious fighters but also one that always fell short in terms of belts and titles. He never held a belt in any MMA organization. He is a 3rd degree black belt in bjj and a muay thai expert.
Costa was excited to be matched up with Florian since they’ve crossed swords before – at IBJJF New York Spring Invitational.
He told flocombat:
“I was about to do the same thing I did to him before, just work a little harder to tap him out,” Costa said.
Florian pulled out of the event soon after the draw in spite of appearing uninjured in his own pictures:
While the replacement quickly stepped into place, Filipe Costa Braga was livid:
“I want to thank Josh Calvo because he took the fight on short notice,” Costa said. “I’m looking forward to meeting him and having some fun. He took the fight like a man. The other guy [Florian] wants to be like a bitch…He’s going to hide. I got hurt too, dude.”
Florian has since posted a meme insinuating he’s injured:
