Fabricio Werdum Pushing for Fedor Emelianenko Rematch: “Fedor Was Never the GOAT”

Fedor Emelianenko is back. Bellator officials have announced that he will return to the MMA cage on October 23.
Emelianenko is supposed to headline Bellator’s debut show in Russia, against an opponent that’s yet to be determined. This will be The Last Emperor’s first fight since 2019, when he won against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Bellator’s President Scott Coker has said that he and his matchmakers are going through the process of selecting Emelianenko’s opponent, and that they have – thus far – picked a couple of names that may be suitable for the match.

The Last Emperor, now 44 years old, has had a decade-long unbeaten streak, which is often said to be one of the most impressive streaks in MMA history. He went undefeated for 32 fights!
However, this streak was ended on a Strikeforce card in the summer of 2010. He was submitted by Fabricio Werdum, and would then go on to lose against Antonio Silva and Dan Henderson as well.

But here’s the kicker: in the last decade, he has been defeated only twice! Even though he lost to Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader, he holds impressive wins against Quinton Jackson, Frank Mir, and Chael Sonnen.
Fedor’s return will, then, surely be an exciting one to witness!

There is another possible opponent for Emelianenko in the form of Fabricio Werdum, who is currently signed to the PFL.

Werdum had a No Contest fight with Renan Ferreira in PFL but he withdrew from the PFL heavyweight tournament because of an injury.

Now Werdum has his eyes set on fighting against Emelianenko in Russia.

On his Twitter, Werdum openly challenged Emelianenko and pushed for a rematch in Russia in order prove who the real GOAT is.

Fabricio Werdum is a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is a 2x IBJJF black belt world champion and also a 2x ADCC world champion making him one of the most accomplished Jiu Jitsu fighters in the UFC.

He is also a 2x UFC heavyweight champion…

Notable Submission Wins:

Cain Velasquez via Guillotine Choke
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira via Armbar
Fedor Emelianenko via Triangle Armbar
Alistair Overeem via Kimura.
