Fabio Gurgel: “I Was Lucky To Find Purpose In Jiu-Jitsu”

The question of purpose is, arguably, one of the life’s most important questions.
Because, as many claim, if you find your purpose and then start following it – you’ll be much more successful and fulfilled than it would’ve been the case otherwise.

Fabio Gurgel thinks that as well. Here’s what he had to say about finding purpose, in an interview with Andre Galvao:

Man, I think this question of you finding purpose in life is fundamental, right?
So you can get out of bed every day, willing to do [something]. Being purposeless is hard.

Gurgel emphasizes that he found purpose in Jiu-Jitsu and that it fulfills a second purpose – doing something for others:

I was lucky to love Jiu-Jitsu and I managed to find the purpose in Jiu-Jitsu.

Because, the fact that you like something doesn’t mean that thing has to be mandatorily your profession.
And the purpose is always aligned with doing something for others.

And I think what Jiu-Jitsu brings is a personal pleasure, that we do it because we love to do it.
But it is aligned. Look at how many people you help, look how many people depend on the work that Andre [Galvao] has put in.
