Edmond Tarverdyan Talks Ronda Getting Her Belt Back This Year

For a while there it was looking like the Women’s bantamweight division was where all the attention was going. That quickly changed after Rousey suffered a stunning loss at the hands of Holly Holm.

The title promptly changed hands several times after that with very little room to gain traction.

It ended up in the hands of Amanda Nunes who is looking at the possible Ronda Rousey match slated for the end of this year.

Edmond Tarverdyan told ESPN that a fight with Amanda Nunes is being discussed for December 30th in Las Vegas.

Thus far no final word has been said since Rousey is slowly recovering following a minor knee surgery for an injury from her judo days.

Dana White is definitely looking to make that fight a reality. Earlier this week he hinted that Rousey should be getting into the Octagon before the clock runs out on 2016.

“I think in a perfect world, what everybody would love to see is Ronda vs. Cyborg, so everybody is waiting — I’m sure Cyborg is, too — for the return of Ronda Rousey,” White told Brazilian newspaper O Globo “When she does return, I’m sure [Rousey is] going to want to fight for the title, probably defend it and then maybe fight Cyborg. I don’t know. We’ll see how this thing plays out.”

In other news Cyborg just made weight for her fight tonight. It’s unclear at what weight this fight could ever happen given the severe difficulty she’s had making 140 lbs

The NYC bound November 12th card has been ruled out but the possibilities are there with UFC 206 on December 10th and UFC 207 in Las Vegas on the 30th.

Edmond Tarverdyan who is looking to direct some attention away from his Werdum incident told ESPN that Rousey has been training for about a month and she’s looking forward to it:

“There have been talks about her coming back, but we haven’t made a final decision yet,” he said. “There’s a chance she fights to get her belt back this year, but nothing is set yet. If we do make a comeback this year, we will. If not we will make it next year. We want to thank all our fans for being patient.

“When she does come back, we promise the best Ronda Rousey that anyone has ever seen. “
