EBI Announces First Ever Middleweights Combat Jiu Jitsu Tournament, Sets Date

Eddie Bravo invitational is a tournament that made its name with several lighter divisions. Edition number 6 was marked absolute for the first time after a number of big names expressed interest. What happened next shapped the zeitgeist in grappling – Gordon Ryan won and started making a name for himself submitting some of the best grapplers alive today.

After a great all female edition featuring two certified champions of the points system and IBJJF competitions – Bia Basilio and Bia Mesquita EBI is going to push another boundary.

This time it’s the middleweight. Official announcement reads:

EBI 17 The Middleweights for the First Time Ever All matches with Combat Jiu-Jitsu rules!!! | 185 Same-Day Weigh in Tag who you want to see down below #EBI17CJJ | September 15th Live from the @musclepharm HQ in Burbank

5x World BJJ champion Bernardo Faria has developed the No Gi Half Guard. His submissions and sweeps works just as easily for No Gi, if not easier.
1.In No Gi there are not as many grips you can play. For example, you can’t play spider guard and the whole array of guards that stem from it. His guard works perfectly.
2.There are not a lot of grips your opponent can use to stop your sweep while playing No Gi. They can’t grab your collar, sleeve or pants obviously. Again, his guard works perfectly.
