Dream Art, The Project Producing Future Black Belt World Champions

Dream Art, The Project Producing Future Black Belt World Champions

One of the most positive events in the BJJ community in 2018 was the creation of the Alliance affiliated team “Dream Art Project”. A team like no else, “Dream Art Project” has managed to produce champions in coloured belt divisions in a very short amount of time and caught people`s attention with their uniqueness and passion for the sport. The Sao Paulo-based project helped Alliance to win the World, Brasileiro, and Abu Dhabi World Pro team titles, scoring 45 of Alliance’s 120 points at Worlds. The team is led and mentored by no other than the sensational grappler Isaque Bahiense. His concept for the academy is to be different from other casual projects around Brazil.

“Dream Art Project” does not only offer accommodation and hard training, but also English classes, access to higher education, medical support and more to a number of athletes that are carefully selected. However, their number continues to grow – they are now 30 in São Paulo and 10 more at the “Dream Art” affiliation in Manaus. In this list we are going to present you some of the names that have stunned the world of BJJ with their results and carry the “Dream Art” patches proudly.

The Munis Brothers

Erich, Alex and Anderson Munis took the BJJ world by storm in the last few years! These teenagers shook up not only the IBJJF scene, but also made some noise at Spyder Invitational and Copa Podio tournaments. Erich and Anderson closed out the open class at last year`s worlds at purple belts and their divisions (heavy and super-heavy). All three of them moved up to brown belt and this year. Alex took second place at the elite Copa Podio GP Tournament in California while Erich won double-gold at IBJJF Europeans. Anderson had a very tough challenge in front of him in the end of 2019 he – participated in the Spyder Invitational 100 kg. tournament where he had a very close fight with one of the GOATs in BJJ Rodolfo Vieira. In his Spyder qualification matches he even scored wins against Matheus Diniz and Roberto Jimenez.

Micael Galvao

Micael is only 16, but he is probably the best grappler representing Dream Art Manaus right now. Wrecking all the blue belt juveniles in his way this youngster stacked an impressive record of over a hundred wins since his last loss at green belt. His 2019 was sensational – he became one of only a few athletes in history to achieve the IBJJF double grand slam (weight and absolute champ at Worlds, Pans, Euros, and Brasileiro). Last year Micael was 33-0 in the IBJJF, with 31 submissions and only conceding six points in those fights. A purple belt now, Micael is seeking competition on a higher than the juvenile division level.

Rui Alves Neto

Rui Alves Neto is a purple belt medium-heavyweight with insane lapel game. He has won the open classes at Worlds, Euros, and Sul Americano and seems to be the very next big thing in that division. His modern guard game and passionate celebrations make him one of the most exciting fighters for the fans and he has earned himself the spot in quite a few invitational tournaments.

Fabricio Andrey

This light-featherweight was a Pan and Brazilian National Champion at purple belt. He moved up a weight class and a belt division, but it seems like this fact didn`t bother him at all. At this years Euros he submitted all 6 of his opponents and captured the featherweight title. This athletic guard passer has showed that the -70 kg. division is not only berimbolos and guard pulls and brought back to fashion the top game at featherweight.

Anna Rodrigues

Anna Rodrigues is a black belt under Isaque Bahiense and one of the most fierce female competitors out there. She has conquered many World and Pans titles at coloured belts and cemented her status as a top fighter in her first year as a black belt in 2018 – she won the Grand Slams in Rio and LA. Her most recent success is the European title in the 53 kg. division. Anna is just 22, but she has some solid experience behind her back.
