Demetrious Johnson Proposes UFC fight With No Grappling to Floyd Mayweather

It’s hard to believe Demetriuous Johnson is just a bjj blue belt given the strides he’s made in grappling. He not only armbarred Wilson Reis – a prominent bjj black belt but also he pulled off that suplex to armbar wizardry.

Still what might’ve gotten him to sideline the grappling for a bit is an opportunity for a big money fight against Mayweather – who is in some weird type of limbo with the UFC nobody expected.

Mayweather said people misconstrued what he said last week about the UFC. He didn’t say he was going to compete in MMA — he said he could make a billion dollars in the UFC if he chose to

“Exactly what I said is this: If I could make over a billion dollars before, I could do it again,” Mayweather said. “If I chose to get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor, I could make a billion dollars. Which I can. I could do it in three fights or even four fights — I could make a billion dollars. If I choose to get in the Octagon and fight.”

Still Mighty Mouse, who has been struggling to market himself in spite of spectacular performances would be willing to give up grappling for this special exhibition:

“I think it would go very well for me, obviously,” Johnson told TMZ Sports. “I’m very well-rounded. It’s mixed martial arts. I would even do a handicap. I won’t even grapple with him. I won’t even go to the ground at all. I’ll get him in the clinch, bang up, hit him in the liver, kick him in the liver, take out his legs and work him.”

“100 percent [I would win],” said Johnson. “Yeah, of course. You have the clinch, there’s kicks, there’s elbows, it’s mixed martial arts. I come from one of the great coaches – Matt Hume, Brad Kertson – and my skill set is well-rounded.

“I’d probably get after that liver. Have to get after that liver. Beat him up in the Muay Thai clinch because he likes to clinch a lot. You see it in his boxing, when he clinches, once we initiate that clinch, I’m gonna throw a knee right to his liver.”

Still one match that would certainly be interesting to see is McGregor and Mayweather in the Octagon, especially given all the analysis we’ve been observing leading upto their historic boxing match.
