Davi Ramos: Great Players Going Into MMA Is Bad For Jiu-Jitsu

Davi Ramos forged his reputation on impressive offensive moves. He remains one of the highlights of ADCC 2015 that was held in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

In addition to wining ADCC gold in up to 77kg category, he also received the most beautiful finish award for that amazing flying armbar in the Grand Finale against Lucas Lepri.

Nowadays Davi Ramos is another high level grappler transitioning into MMA. Here’s what he had to say on the topic of shifting focus to mma in a short interview with Tatame:

“I am passionate about Jiu-Jitsu. I think all who practice it are passionate about it. It’s very difficult to live from Jiu-Jitsu generated income alone today and have good finances. It’s easier to migrate from the gentle art to MMA, and MMA has higher earning potential. So I see these transitions from big names of gentle art as something initially bad for Jiu-Jitsu, because we lost great athletes, ”

Ramos continued:

“It’s good for MMA for the very fact that they’re great athletes. I’ve always been a fan of Ronaldo Jacare, a guy who does everything, plays underneath, over, finish.. I also like Andre Galvao and Marcelinho Garcia, who is one of the guys I really like to see fight”
