Dana White Looking To Make GSP and Nate Diaz Match up

Earlier this year we had a chance to observe the staggering return of Georges St-Pierre. The UFC legend made it back to the octagon and immidietly won back the title against Michael Bisping – in a weight class higher than his own.

Through out this match up there were rumors of GSP’s bad condition as he was seen with his gut distended during a shoot and more. Post match it was revealed Georges had been suffering from ulcerative colitis. John Danaher then said it’s quite questionable if and when we see him in the octagon again.

John Danaher Reveals Georges St. Pierre May Never Fight Again

“Georges was having serious medical problems two weeks into the camp and they persisted throughout, they peaked, in a six week camp, between week 4 and week 2, out from the main event. Things got so bad that we lost two weeks with zero training.”

“That is a definite possibility,” he said. “I don’t want to say yes or no because it’s not my decision, really.”

But nowadays Georges St.Pierre has noticably slimmed down and it’s looking like he’s getting ready for a lightweight bout.

Dana White is hoping for his perfect scenario for the August event set in Los Angeles – UFC 227. He confirmed the rumors himself. The matchup was reported by MMA journalist Mike Russell over the weekend, but TSN reports no bout agreements have been signed.

Diaz has been gaming the system and waiting for a prize fight for a while. He was quoted saying:

“We’ve been offering Nate Diaz fights for however long,” White said. “In his contract, and Nick Diaz, I have to give them three fights a year. Per the contract, I need to give them three fights a year. If I fail to give them three fights a year then I have to pay them. I have honored my contract with those guys. They turn down the fights, and it extends their contracts. But we are working right now to try to put together a Georges St-Pierre versus Nate Diaz fight.”
