Dillon Danis has officially been banned from attending UFC events after yet another violent incident – this time a full-blown brawl that erupted during UFC 322.
The clash took place more than seven years after Danis was famously targeted by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, when the Dagestani champion dove over the cage to attack him following his win over Conor McGregor.
And now, Danis once again found himself in a confrontation with members of the Dagestani crowd, taking multiple punches to the head and nearly losing a shoe in the chaos.
The altercation brought the UFC 322 main card to a halt as security rushed in to separate the groups and restore order.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Dana White detailed how the situation unfolded:
I blame myself for that actually.
They came back and told me Dillon Danis was here and he was moving around, sitting in fighter’s seats, not sitting in the seat he had.
They asked if we should throw him out, and I said: “He has a ticket?”
They said yes. They also said Masvidal was gonna f**k him up on sight…
But I figured if he had a ticket, let him sit in his seat.
Despite concerns that Jorge Masvidal might confront Danis, it wasn’t Masvidal who ended up involved.
Instead, the conflict erupted with members of the crowd supporting Islam Makhachev ahead of his welterweight title fight with Jack Della Maddalena.
It remains unclear what triggered the fight, but it was immediately obvious to White who was at the center of it:
It never even crossed my mind – as stupid as this could be – that the entire Muslim brotherhood was here tonight in the first five rows for Islam.
As soon as it broke out, I knew exactly what that was.
White didn’t mince words about Danis’s future:
Yeah, you will never see Dillon Danis at a UFC fight ever again.
