Craig Jones Responds to Gordon Ryan’s Hateful Tirade After B-Team Breakup

Craig Jones Responds to Gordon Ryan’s Hateful Tirade After B-Team Breakup

B-Team break-up escalates with harsh accusations and dry humor

In the latest chapter of one of jiu-jitsu’s most talked-about rivalries, Craig Jones has finally addressed Gordon Ryan’s scathing social media tirade following the announcement of the B-Team’s rebranding and leadership change. What was initially seen as a simple gym split has now evolved into a deeply personal and public feud.

The Australian grappling icon responded with trademark sarcasm and restraint, painting a picture of a man confused rather than enraged.

Craig Jones: Calm Amid the Chaos

When asked about Gordon Ryan’s celebratory posts on B-Team’s demise, Jones quipped:

“I refuse to read it until he learns how to use paragraphs, to be honest with you. I look for the cliff notes.”

He went on to question Ryan’s motives:

“I don’t know why he’s angry that I’m leaving his city. He’s got his gym now. I’m leaving—take it. Does he see it as some kind of victory lap or something, maybe?”

Rather than escalating the feud, Jones pointed out the repetitive nature of team splits and rebuilds:

“They had New Wave, now they have Kingsway. We had B-Team, now there’ll be something like Simple Man. We’re kind of doing the same thing. I don’t even know what the beef is.”

Perhaps most surprisingly, Jones revealed that he has rekindled his relationship with legendary coach John Danaher:

“Me and John Danaher—we’re homies again.”

However, his relationship with Ryan remains tense:

“Obviously Gordon still doesn’t like me. I don’t know why. I’ve been nothing but complimentary toward the man.”

Jones closed with a blunt reflection on Ryan’s online persona:

“Honestly, I don’t even know what he means half the time.”

Gordon Ryan Fires Back: Instagram Tirade (Transcribed)

Meanwhile, Gordon Ryan did not hold back in his latest post, calling Jones out with a mixture of personal attacks and accusations. Here’s a full transcript of his Instagram story:

“Dirtbag said he’s leaving the team right after he just went AWOL and threw both Roddy bros under the bus so he could appear morally superior to Reddit dorks. He’s never there. Doesn’t help run the school in any capacity. Has 0 home base or stability in his life. Brags about traveling around and getting high to bang ladyboys. News flash. He’s not leaving Z Team. Z Team is leaving him.

Why else would they rebrand? You know who thinks a brand built on cocaine, trannies, and losing is a rock solid brand? People with IQs below 90.

It’s not rocket science. The good guy act you see online—that’s what it is. An act.

This split could be seen coming for years as he was around less and less. Let’s see how messy it gets publicly.

When the DDS split happened, we had an agreement to not air private drama. For a full year, they broke that agreement repeatedly until I finally responded.

The only one who kept his word was Nicky Ryan. Both sides have a history of making splits messy.

This’ll be interesting. BTW, never am I wrong.”

What’s Next for B-Team (and Beyond)?

As of this month, B-Team is undergoing a full transformation. Craig Jones and Seth Belisle have officially stepped down from ownership. The new leadership will feature Nicky Ryan, Nick Rodriguez, Ethan Crelinsten, and Damien Anderson, with a full rebrand underway.

Jones, meanwhile, is moving forward with the Craig Jones Invitational and charitable projects like the Fair Fight Foundation, while attempting to avoid the mudslinging.

The Takeaway

Craig Jones’ composed reaction and Gordon Ryan’s explosive post reflect not only a personality clash but also two very different visions of how jiu-jitsu teams and culture should evolve.

In Jones’ world, there’s room for humor, reinvention, and humility. In Ryan’s, betrayal must be punished, and drama makes the headlines.

One thing’s for certain—this story is far from over.
