Conor McGregor Shows his BJJ Black Belt Skills In New Training Footage

Conor McGregor recently gave fans a glimpse of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills in an Instagram video that has stirred conversation across social media. In this latest training footage, the Irish MMA icon is shown in action on the mats, grappling intensely with a training partner and executing various submission techniques, including a well-timed guillotine choke. His control over his partner on the ground, leading to several tap-outs, highlights McGregor’s refined ground game, sparking both praise and debate among fans.

Supporters were quick to comment on McGregor’s often-overlooked grappling skills, with one fan noting, “Conor’s grappling has always been underrated; we just haven’t seen much of it.” Others couldn’t help but recall his famous rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov, with some humorously remarking, “Khabib is typing…”

McGregor’s renewed focus on BJJ comes amid preparations for his return to the UFC after a two-year absence due to a leg injury sustained in his 2021 fight against Dustin Poirier. Initially set to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303, McGregor was forced to withdraw because of a toe injury, leaving Chandler to take on Charles Oliveira at UFC 309.

Recently, McGregor reached a career milestone by earning his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt from his longtime coach, John Kavanagh, at SBG Ireland. This promotion marks the culmination of years of dedication to BJJ, advancing from a brown belt and realizing a goal he set back in 2013. McGregor expressed deep gratitude for the achievement, honoring the nearly two-decade mentorship under Kavanagh. He celebrated the occasion with his coach, teammates, and fans, later donning his black belt in his pub, embracing a meaningful chapter in his combat sports journey.
