Caio Terra: “I Age Like Everyone Else… But Once I Hit 80, Things Started To Hurt A Little More”

Caio Terra is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes in history. He earned his BJJ black belt in just 3 years of training and is a 12x world champion; as well as one of the most appreciated figures in the sport.

Terra recently did an “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) session on Reddit, where he shared many interesting answers, advice, and opinions.
For instance, when asked who his greatest adversary has been, Caio replied:

The reffs [referees] for sure. I have never won a ref decision in the finals of worlds although most of the time it shouldn’t have even gone to a reff decision.

Also, when he was asked how he helps his students learn and retain information, Terra gave a phenomenal answer:

I encourage all my students to study Jiu-Jitsu.

We can only physically train so many hours a day but we all have time to watch matches, techniques etc. At my schools, we post what we are teaching a week before so the students can review at home and prepare before coming to class.
This way they can also ask questions on why we did this or that to get a better understanding.

The Reddit AMA was full of funny questions and answers as well. For example, when inquired whether he ages at all – given that he looks pretty much the same as he looked years ago – Caio said:

Like everyone else [does]. I have to say though once I hit 80, things started to hurt a little more.
