Some exercises need little introduction, and the same can be said for the Kettlebell Swing. It is one of the best BJJ-specific exercises that you can do; one that will improve your hip strength and explosiveness – which will transfer directly to the mats!
However, even though it’s seemingly easy to execute, there are still a few things that you need to keep in mind. Let’s take a look at them and improve your form with John Danaher’s top brown belt Oliver Taza.
Taza used the kettlebell swing ti help him recover from a serious knee injury:
“The kettle swing, wether done with one or two hands is one the best and most complete leg workout exercises to get the most out of your workout.
It will get you breathing heavy, fire up your hamstrings, gluteus, grips and core.
You will also be developing the fast fibres in your body. This leg workout exercise can be done with two hands one hand! Personally, I started with two hands and when it felt right, made the switch to one handed which transfers very well to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling and martial arts in general.”
