Brown Belt Adam Roy Williamson Tragically Shot in Louisiana

April McCrea had just taken her baby from the bath when she heard a bang downstairs.

According to the dailyadvertiser :

She had only expected to host her boyfriend, Dustin Wiltz, and two other friends that evening. But somehow about six other people unfamiliar to her had arrived at her home.

Then came two gunshots.

One of them fatally shot bjj brown belt Adam Roy Williamson. Williamson was just 20 at the time of his passing.

“He did it before the rest of us could think of anything else. He’s in the (Army National Guard) so he reacted the only way he knew how to,” Barnes said.

“He was happy-go-lucky all the time. Gentle and kind. Compassionate about everything. Goofy, I would say,” Barnes said. “We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. In my own home.”

Williamson trained jiu jitsu under his father Lang Williamson at  Gracie United Brazilian jiujitsu school in Opelousas.

As a grappler Williamson was described as “multiple State Championships, multiple Expert North America Grappling Association Championships, IBJJF New York Open Champion, Blood & Sand Fight of the Night Award, and Caged Warrior Championship Submission of the Night Award.” (via legacy.com)
