Much like many acting contracts, the UFC includes a clause prohibiting dangerous activities to its’ fighters. Some of the activities that are banned under the clause are wakeboarding, horseback riding snowboarding and others.
But diving is typically not on the list.
Just last week Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone went diving and almost lost his life.
“My dry suit flooded,” said Cerrone to Andy Nesbitt of FOX Sports. “I wasn’t very deep, maybe 50-60 feet. Then my first stage blew. PFFFFTTTT. So I had like a massive air leak and I’m sunk at the bottom of a lake. And my regulator’s wide open flowing – just screaming air out of it. My girl tried to like … I should have took her air, but I just pushed her away from me and just torpedoed, sort of like crawling out of the lake.”
Cerrone was reportedly looking for about 500$ worth of silver on the bottom of the lake.
“That’s how scuba diving works, it snowballs. If something bad happens, one thing leads to another. So I just literally crawled out of the lake. I came back up with 200 psi when I finally left. So any more time bulls*****ing and I would have been… [makes throat slashing gesture].”
.@Cowboycerrone had a near-death experience LAST WEEK while scuba diving.
And he told @anezbitt all about it before #UFC205. pic.twitter.com/TWPvh9alp7
