Best Judo Combination Takedown For BJJ by Olympic Judo Champion Satoshi Ishii

Takedowns are the mark of all grappling sports (Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Sambo etc). They all rely on taking the fight to the ground, regardless of what you do afterwards.

Takedowns can be a tough task for BJJ players. Especially, when we don’t have any standing background, like wrestling or Judo.

Here Satoshi Satoshi shows a great combination of throws that work against a stalling opponent. Ishii had great success with this move in his glorious Judo career. Satoshi Ishii is an olympic Gold Medalist in Judo, winning the 2008 Olympic Games.

This is a clip off of his new instructional series “Japanese Judo Secrets.” With his expertise in Judo he went on to achieve his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Satoshi has competed at the highest levels with great success.

He says that this is a great technique to use when for a Judoka against a Jiu Jitsu fighter.

Satoshi first attacks with an Ouchi Gari forcing a reaction by the opponent who will remove their right leg but lean on their left leg, so then Saoshi hits them with a perfect Tai Otoshi.
