Become More Disciplined in BJJ by Doing These Two Things

Do you sometimes feel as if you could be a bit more disciplined? Especially in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; whether it is your consistency in training, how focused you are in class, how many new techniques you’re trying out… You get a sense that you could and should become more disciplined.
But discipline is one of the toughest things to develop, both in BJJ and life in general. It tends to be elusive and sort of changes with the “seasons” – at one moment you could be the most disciplined person in the world, and in the very next moment you’re slacking off.

So what are you supposed to do to become more disciplined? Well, you could try doing the following two things… Nick “Chewy” Albin explains.

 

BECOME MORE DISCIPLINED: AWARENESS AND VISUALIZATION

The very first thing that Chewy recommends you to do is to develop a sense of awareness of where you’re going. That is to say, of your goals; of where you’re headed and what you want to accomplish. You need to think about those things and then, in turn, think back to what you’re doing at the present moment and if that is in line with your goals.
By developing an awareness of your goals and of whether or not you’re actively pursuing them, you’ll become much more disciplined than you were before.

Secondly, you ought to visualize what you want to accomplish. By seeing yourself achieving that BJJ goal that you have in mind, it’ll be much easier to stick to what you’re supposed to be doing.
