Anderson Silva responds to Jacare: I was Surprised, I argued to Dana that wasn’t fair Jacaré not Fighting for the belt Years Ago

Anderson Silva was truly surprised by Ronaldo Jacare Souza turning on him recently and saying he doesn’t deserve a title shot. As a reminder Jacare said:
Souza balked at the notion saying:

”You see s*its like that,” Souza said, “A guy jumping the fence to beat another one, and other s*its, and you… I think I’ll start doping, I’ll start doing a bunch of s*it, call everyone names. Maybe I’ll fight for the belt. But my conception is this, my principles and values are unnegotiable. If I deserve it or not, if they will give me (a title shot) or not, I won’t change. That’s the way I am and that’s my point of view.

”When Chris and I were going to fight, we respected each other. Everybody talked about our respect and everybody talked about our fight. What we do outside the Octagon, has nothing to do with what we do inside the Octagon. Inside the Octagon, Chris and I fought hard, we put our hearts in there to win, and that’s what people want to see. It’s not someone coming from doping, who is outside the ranking, who is famous because he’s one of the best in the world, to jump the line. The reality is everybody is seeing that and thinking it’s crap. And that’s the truth, it’s crap.”

Silva (34-8 MMA, 17-4 UFC) said if he’s able to upset Israel Adesanya (15-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) at UFC 234 in February, he hopes to get one last chance to win back the title.
Silva told globo he was surprised to hear from Jacare:

– I confess I was a little surprised because I always gave all support to Jacaré, including when he arrived at the gym. I got it very well and I’ve always been on his side and always defended him every time he fought so he could play in that belt. I think he was unhappy in the comments, but some things we can not control. I have control over my actions, about what I do and what I say. Everyone knows my story in this sport and how hard I’ve worked to keep doing what I do. I do not have much to talk about.
