AJ Agazarm: Dillon Danis Was Plucked From Obscurity With No Real Accomplishments in BJJ to be an Entourage For McGregor

AJ Agazarm is quite happy with his new Bellator deals and he’s not afraid to show it off. To announce his signing he guested on the Ariel Helwani ESPN show and gave quite a few memorable quotes. Among them he notably talked about “Bellator co-owner” Dillon Danis;

“Look, Dillon Danis was plucked from obscurity with no real accomplishments in BJJ to be an entourage member for Conor McGregor,” said Agazarm. “He’s got a batting average of .500 at black belt, he’s got like 30 matches total. You know how many matches I have? 200. That’s a substantial amount…I destroyed him twice.”

He didn’t stop there.

“It’s disrespectful to consider yourself the ‘face of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’ when you’ve got guys at a much higher level with much better results.”

While Danis certainly has less than stellar moments it’s hard to argue certain things – Gordon Ryan barely managed to beat Danis at ADCC – it was a very close decision as anyone who has seen the match knows.

Agazarm added:

“There certainly are a lot of people who find it comical what he’s doing, but you know…look at his skill set. What has he accomplished? He destroyed Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu…is non-existent, and Dillon was brought on to help him in that match with [Nate Diaz]. Dillon had a lot of success in those early matches, and has really nice d’arce chokes and guillotines…but if you look, anyone who has any slight ground game has exposed Conor. Nate did it, Chad [Mendez] did it, and now Kabib. And lets be honest, that whole situation? Ariel, you could have submitted Conor.”

What Agazarm failed to mention is that the two faced off at SUG – where Danis successfully defeated him in overtime.
