The ADCC 2017 is just around the corner! The most prestigious of grappling events is set for September 23rd, 24th in Finland.
After much anticipation, the brackets have been set. The 16 men bracket will feature 8 men who have qualified through trial events all over the world, seven invites and one spot reserved for the reigning champion.
The defending champion for the 66kg division is Rubens Charles “Cobrinha”. This time around Cobrinha is 37 years old. He’ll have sharp competition in Marcio Andre who is one of the top grapplers of his generation.
Eddie Cummings is another force to be reckoned with in the 66kg bracket. The Danaher Death Squad’s Wolverine has been preparing for just this occasion for the last two years. The ADCC is the pinnacle of achievement for the Renzo Gracie New York crowd given their love for NoGi and submission only events.
The event will also feature Paulo Miyao who has been on quite a tear out performing even Uriah Faber in the Sub only event Submission Underground earlier this year.
10th Planet’s Geo Martinez is another force to be reckoned with. The reigning EBI 61kg champion managed to out perform Eddie Cummings the last time they met and he was quite good at ADCC back in 2015 when he managed to kick out Jeff Glover only to be stopped by Bruno Frazatto and ultimately Augusto Mendes – he finished 4th.
UFC’s Augusto Mendes Tanquinho is another interesting prospect to watch – he’ll be giving it his all to prove that he can do better than finish in 3rd place. Mendes is 34 years old.
