Actor Chris Pratt Demonstrates His Wrestling Skills on Nogueira Bros

Actor Chris Pratt has a wrestling background. He actually wrestled for 10 years even going so far as to wrestle in the same tournament as Josh Barnett. Pratt was raised in Lake Stevens, Washington, where he placed fifth in a high school state wrestling tournament. His wrestling coach asked him what he wished to do with his life, and Pratt recalled: “I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I know I’ll be famous and I know I’ll make a s- ton of money.’ I had no idea how. I’d done nothing proactive.”

Christopher Pratt came to prominence from his television roles, including Bright Abbott in The WB drama series Everwood and Andy Dwyer in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation. His early film career began with supporting roles in such mainstream films as WantedJennifer’s BodyMoneyballThe Five-Year EngagementZero Dark ThirtyDelivery Man and Her.

Pratt is still very active in the school to this day. Since graduation he has produced and narrated a documentary for the school’s successful wrestling team. That documentary went on to premiere at ESPN’s film festival, and later MTV’s True Life. It’s incredibly well done, and you can watch it here.

He recently showed his skills on MMA legend Rodrigo Noogueira aka Minotauro:

If you know me you know I’m a massive fan of MMA (mixed martial arts) I consider JiuJitsu, karate, tae kwon do, judo and wrestling to be just as much an art form as acting is a job (which is to say sometimes it doesn’t feel like it is.) Regardless it’s a discipline which requires intense training, dedication and sacrifice. Today I was blessed to enjoy a training session with a couple of MMA’s greatest practitioners. The Noguera brothers are São Paulo natives and absolute legends.
“MINOTAURO” asked me to demonstrate some wrestling takedowns on him. He is a former heavyweight champion in both UFC and Pride and is widely considered to be one of the toughest humans in the planet. He’s also one of the nicest. I guess when you walk around with a repertoire of lethal moves at your disposal you can afford to be gracious and kind. Thanks you @minotauromma and @minotouromma for the session! And thank you #saopaulo #guerrainfinita
