17 yr old Micael Galvao Wins GP Submitting 3 Black Belts & Wins $15,000 Prize

Last Saturday the young BJJ phenomenon Micael Galvão participated and won the middleweight GP organized by Third Coast Grappling. In a bracket with 7 black belts, the brown belt, who now trains Fight Sports academy with Roberto Cyborg, finished his three fights by submission to guarantee the title and 15 thousand dollars prize.

Showing great maturity Micael beat veteran John Combs in the first round with a guillotine after opening the scoreboard 10-0. A solid demonstration of what to expect for the rest of the night.

In the second round he faced Pedro Rocha, who had eliminated Atos’s Gustavo Batista in the first round. In a very even fight in which Micael dictated all the rhythm, attacking Pedro’s arm several times and many leg attacks. The submission ended up happening by heel hook.

In the final match, Micael faced the very dangerous Pedro Marinho, a Gracie Barra black belt who has stood out in the No Gi competition scene. With less than two minutes of the fight left, Pedro Marinho made a mistake and Micael applied a straight armbar, deciding the fight in a surprising way.
