Watch: Stipe Miocic Goes Back to His Roots, Trains With Cro Cop in Croatia

Stipe Miocic may be an Ohio native, but his parents are both from Croatia. Miocic got back to his roots for his last fight camp, heading to the homeland to train with friend Mirko Crop Cop. Miocic faces Mark Hunt in the main event of Fight Night Adelaide.

After the press conference and hanging out with many fans that he welcomed after the first arrival in Croatia, Stipe Miocic fulfilled another great desire, to meet his idol – Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

Immediately upon arrival in Croatia, Stipe Miocic has expressed a desire to meet the legendary fighter. His wish was fulfilled by CroCop’s manager Orsat Zovko (director of Fight Channel).

Meeting between these two fighters was more than cordial. At a time when Miocic arrived at Cro Cop’s gym with his father and brother, Cro Cop has worked extensively and was in his last round of training, preparing for the match with Satoshi Ishii on August 23. Stipe Drvis held pads for CroCop and in the wrestling section, Alessio Sakara and Sasa Milinkovic were alternating.

As soon as he finished his training session, Cro Cop warmly greeted Miocic, whose career he follows since Miocic’s debut few years ago in the UFC. Stipe thanked CroCop for the warm welcome and told him that it was watching his matches back in the day that motivated him to start practicing martial arts.

The duo continued to socialize in CroCop’s family house where they were talking to each other for more than an hour. They were talking about a variety of topics, fighters have exchanged experiences from the UFC, stories were told of the adventures of the fights and they both commented on Junior Dos Santos.

Stipe announced new arrivals in Croatia and even future possibility of cooperation and training together with CroCop in the future.

Overflowing with joy because of the warm welcome in Croatia and fulfilling the desire to meet Cro Cop, Stipe wrote on his Twitter later that day – “The best day ever”.

Miocic will continue touring in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea, where they will be staying next week
