The Emirate of Sharjah hosted for the first time in it’s history a UAEJJF tournament. The event showcased competitors who are at the pinnacle of the sport such as ADCC champ Pablo Popovitch and highliy decorated world champion Davi Ramos were amongst the competitors at the Sharjah open. The women’s division also showcased some notable names including World Pro Gold medalist Ariadne Oliveira.
H.E Sheikh Tarik Bin Faisal Bin Khalid Al Qassimi a member of Sharjah’s Leadership told fightinglifestyleuae.com:
“It is indeed a pleasure to have this event hosted here in Sharjah, We see a lot of participants, very high level participants. It is nothing less than any international competition. It really makes me proud to see a lot of young Nationals participating & competing on this level in this event. This sport is only growing in the Emirates, with the support and interest of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and people with in the UAE Jiu-jitsu Federation who are doing a great job developing the sport, I think the future is very bright for this.”
