Royce Gracie on Eddie Bravo Feud, Gracie University, Ken Shamrock & More

FightinglifestyleUAE caught up with UFC hall of famer and MMA legend Royce Gracie during his visit to Tam Khan’s fitness center in Dubai. Royce Gracie who was in town for a seminar talks about his role as a brand Ambassador for Bellator MMA, his views on the Ken Shamrock vs Kimbo Slice fight, Further more Royce Gracie talks about the comments which were made by Renzo Gracie in regards to the Gracie Academy/ University.

Royce Gracie has in the past openly showed his disapproval for Gracie University’s online learning system.

Following Rener Gracie’s  comments that he thought that ‘Learning Jiu-Jitsu Online Is Even More Effective Than In The Academy’:

From Rener Gracie:  “Some people do not understand that online study is even more effective than learning in the traditional school. In a live class, there are students of all stripes, and the teacher gives the same lesson for everyone. Online, each one has its specific class. Some people tried to learn in the classroom, but the lessons were random, and some students had difficulty learning. And what did they do? Resorted to Gracie University. “

Royce Gracie joined the growing list of Jiu-Jitsu personalities who are against the Gracie online University and about promoting belts online.

Royce Gracie had indirectly answered his nephew Rener when he shared on his instagram account, a statement from Mike Kogan:

“I wonder if Gracie Academy Students paying $200 know that all they need to get good at jiu-jitsu is to join online Gracie University. I find it ironic that worlds like Gracie and Online learning are somehow tied into worlds like Helio Gracie. It’s a shame when your own family changes the concepts of everything you stood for then uses your name and then is actually tying to convince the world that it’s better to learn from a screen then a person specially the art as complex and technical as jiujitsu. And on keepingitplayful. Helio Gracie has a saying “two men playing I smell blood” #ikeepithonest. @realroyce”

His nephew Ryron Gracie saw Royce’s statement and answered with the following:

“Criticism without comprehension leads to meaningless conversation. Those who do not comprehend GracieUniversity.com and the Keepitplayful movement should look to understand and then comment/criticize.”
