Hi Taylor, can you please introduce yourself to the BJJ Community of Eastern Europe?

My name is Taylor Guerra. I’m a 13 year old Bjj Orange Belt and fight for Team Brasa under Coach Rodrigo Comprido Medieros. I’m from Chicago Illinois and I train at Clay Guida’s Mmastop in Cresthill and Comprido Bjj in Bloomingdale. I am a 24 time NAGA Champion, and have some Ibjjf titles too. My competition record is 109 wins 91 by sub and 17 losses. I like to finish my opponents.

How did you start training? I heard that your parents and brother all train. Tell us about your BJJ family.

I started training like this when i was 8. My older brother Matt was wrestling his friends in our trampoline and I went out there and a boy challenged me. I tried and lost. I didnt like it. I went inside and told my dad that I wanted to learn bjj, so he started teaching me at home. I went to watch my brothers class and asked if I could try. That was my first class:) My whole family is in Bjj. Dad is a brown belt and one of is one of my teachrs, my brother’s a green belt and mom is a white belt.

Please tell us about your training regimen and love of competition. What motivates you? What are your future goals in BJJ?

I train 2 times a week mostly gi but I like nogi too. We do alot of technique and sparring. I spar and compete to learn more bjj, try new stuff, not so much just to win with my best move all the time. My motivation is to compete with the best, & beat my own self too, see how far i can push it ya know? I love a challenge, to bring out my best, I will use everything i know to submit them from the time we shake till one of us taps. My future goal is to beat the best girl who ever that is and to keep training. I want to prove myself when I’m 16 at the ibjjf, then maybe mma.

You compete very often against boys and beat them. Up to what age will you keep competing against boys?

The boys, lol well I’ll keep fighting the boys as long as there is a ref and a mat. I like the challenge, they’re stronger than me so it tests my BJJ thats what its all about 🙂

How is it to train under such a legend as Rodrigo Comprido Medeiros? What does he represent to you?

My coach Comprido means so much to me. You can be a famous world champion and still have time to care about every student, even the kids, and that means alot. Im very proud to be a Brasa fighter and to say that he is my coach.

Who are BJJ players that you admire?

I look up to my coaches Comprido and my dad. Jonatas Novaes is a fav and when I competed in Cali I met Ryron and Ralek Gracie and Renzo is really nice:)
