AJ Agazarm To Face Ikuhisa Minowa at Polaris 4

AJ Agazarm To Face Ikuhisa Minowa at Polaris 4

The much awaited Polaris pro 4 is happening on October 29th 2016 at the Lighthouse centre in Poole, Dorset, UK.

The card is slowly being announced by the organisation but an epic match up has been revealed in form of a teaser:

AJ Agazarm vs Ikuhisa Minowa aka Minowaman.

Minowa is a Japanese mixed martial arts legend and professional wrestler . He was a longtime veteran of PRIDE and Pancrase and has also competed in other mixed martial arts promotions such as K-1 Hero’s, Cage Rage, UFC, DREAM, and DEEP. He is the former DREAM Openweight Tournament Champion (Super Hulk).

Not many people know that Minowa is also a BJJ black belt having trained for some time in Brazil at Brazilian Top Team, and getting a black belt in the process.

Minowa has 62 wins in MMA, 42 by submission. He has beaten Bob Sapp, Kimo, Gilbert Yvel, Phil Baroni, Sokoudju, and Hong-man Choi.

What can we expect from Minowa in this match? expect the unexpected and some Pro Wrestling antics. He is a showman. Grappling wise, the 40 year Minowa could have a hard time vs the more experienced pure Grappler in Agazarm. Minowa has some very good leglocks and at 200lbs is much bigger than Agazarm, who walks around at around 175 lbs.

AJ Agazarm is one of the best American BJJ black belts on the competition circuit. A former D1 wrestler at Ohio State University, Agazarm switched to BJJ and started winning everything. His most notable title is that of World No Gi champion at black belt in 2014. He has participated in the first 3 editions of Polaris, defeating Oliver Geddes and drawing with Dan Staruss and Jake Shields.

Polaris 3 made plenty of headlines with the much buzzed about fight between Garry Tonon and Rousimar Palhares so it’s no surprise they are carefully crafting the next card for the submission only event.

The first match to be confirmed was the duel between Imanari and Denny Prokopos:

But soon after another announcement followed. Just last night the Polaris official facebook account announced the 2nd match, the one between Dillon Danis vs Richie “BOOGEYMAN” Martinez:

With such a deep pool of talent on their cards the question remains, who else would you like to see face off at the sub only event this October?
