There has been some controversy in regards to the main event at Metamoris 3. Due to Eddie Bravo’s recent decision to wear Grappling Tights instead of Gi Pants, Royler Gracie’s attorney has been rattling some cages to make sure that his client has the clear advantage before the two ever meet on the mat. Below are the final rules for the fight:
*COMING FROM A RELIABLE/UNNAMED SOURCE*
The Rules are…
Royler is wearing Tight Shorts and a Rashguard
Eddie is wearing the Gi Pants
Royler can grab the pants
Eddie CAN’T grab the shorts
If either fighter shows up wearing anything other than the agreed upon attire… the fight is off. (This was pushed by Royler’s Attorney)
Royler wanted to have it legal to GRAB THE RASHGUARD.
Eddie vs Royler 2003 ADCC. Both wore shorts. Shorts or shirts couldn’t be grabbed.
this is bullshit…
This article is unclear. First it says Eddie has decided to wear tights instead of pants, then it says Eddie will be wearing pants and that Royler will be allowed to grab the pants. What are you reporting, exactly?
Eddie was originally wearing gi pants, and royler was going to be able to grab them without Eddie being able to grab Royler’s shorts. Eddie decided that was an unfair advantage and changed to tights. Royler doesn’t like not having the advantage of grabbing the pants, so he’s threatening to pull out if the fight if Eddie doesn’t wear his gi pants. That’s what I got from the story
I think they are reporting on the discrepancy between the legal shenanigans and what others want.
It’s actually not bullshit….royler is nervous and is trying to position himself with the best chance….who the hell cares what you wear….tell royler stop being a sissy and just do it!!!
Royler heard footsteps so is trying to find a way out.. But he is faced with disgracing the Gracie name, or losing once again.
Your article sucks
I knew this bullshit would happen… AGAIN. The Gracie name in BJJ is being shit on by it’s own descendant. Is this what passes for honour?
From an interview: Sean Applegate >He gonna be allowed to grab you pants? Eddie Bravo >Yup. I asked if I could wear pants and Royler said only if I promise not to change my mind, which was weird, why the fuck would he care what I’m wearing, I could care less what he’s wearing, but anyways, I agreed, but then I changed my mind, that’s when he threatened me with legal action. Crazy. -Of course it will matter what he wears, strategy wise. It’s Eddie Bravo who’s crazy.
I agree, what is this? a dress code? funny shit.
FIGHT!!! This attorney b.s. and details. Just grapple! Cmon Royler
I agree with Phil, wtf is going to happen, this is so unclear!
I don’t get it – they should both be wearing the same clothing. If its no GI lets have it no GI not this mix and match with the lawyers wading in.
