3x Pan Jiu-Jitsu champion, Lucas Leite will seek his fourth title the in upcoming Pan championship which takes place between 11th and 15 March in California.

In an interview with TATAME, the athlete of Checkmat said that he feels very confident:

“The expectation for the Pan is very good. I love competing in this championship. I’ve been fighting the Pan since 2007, when I won a little. To this day, I fought in all. I feel good and have experience in the Pan:I’ve won and also lost in the final, I’ve been through a lot in this competition, so I think we’ll be mentally prepared for everything, ”

“Today I have more experience. Perhaps a little less of explosion and speed, but I know I can win and, most importantly, know what I need to do to be right there on the spot. It is logical that fight is a fight, but if I’m right on the day, I know I can complicate many people still (laughs) “

Lucas talks about his famous half guard, and also explains his reasons for competing at heavyweight when he is a natural middleweight:

Middleweight source, Luke has made it clear that currently prefer fighting heavier athletes. In Pan, he thinks subscribing to the category of heavyweights.

“I think I’m going to compete again at heavyweight. And not because I find it easier or want to prove something, it is simply because the fight become slower. I think I feel better when the opponents wants to stall more than when when the fight goes spiining all over the place like at middleweight. And, of course, it will not be anything different from what I do in training, because I roll every day with Joao Assis, Buchecha , Jackson Souza and now Panza and Arnaldo who also have more than 90kg. I know that there are many good guys rising now, but that only makes me more motivated. Whatever the outcome, I will try to impose my game, “he said.
