Kron Gracie Possibly Set To Make MMA Debut Against Eccentric & Dangerous Japanese Fighter Yuichiro Nagashima

Earlier this year, Kron Gracie, 25-year-old jiu-jitsu black belt who has won world titles as a purple and brown belt, and the ADCC title in 2013, indicated that his days in jiu-jitsu competition might be over.

“I believe I’ll make my MMA debut this year, that’s my next step,” Gracie told Tatame Magazine. “I would move away from jiu-jitsu competitions for a while to focus on that. It’s a truer fight, there’s no guard… It’s you and another man going to war. It’s truer than jiu-jitsu.”

According to sources within Kron Gracie’s academy in California, Rickson’s son could possibly make much awaited MMA debut in August 2014 in Japan vs MMA fighter and striker Yuichiro Nagashima.

The Japanese promotion Real Fight Championship should confirm in the next few days.

Yuichiro “Jienotsu” Nagashima  is a Japanese welterweight kickboxer, and a cosplayer, fighting out of Nishinomiya, Hyogo, currently competing at K-1. His rank is 2nd dan black belt in Nippon Kempo.

He is not to be taken lightly as he owns a KO victory over Shinya Aoki under a mixed rules fight back in 2010.

Nagashima has an MMA record of 3 wins and 2 losses along with a kickboxing record of 18 wins and 7 losses.

He is especially known for his eccentric behavior which includes cross dressing.

On December 31, 2010, Nagashima took part in a “mixed rules” bout against Jiu-Jitsu expert Shinya Aoki at Dynamite!! 2010, the annual New Year’s Eve fight festival. One round was to be held under kickboxing rules and the other under mixed martial arts rules. A coin toss decided that the kickboxing round was to commense first. Aoki took advantage of the fact that he only had to survive through a single three-minute round of kickboxing and thus threw pointless attacks like flying dropkicks and rolling heel kicks while holding onto the ring ropes in order to run the clock down. As the second round began, and Aoki now in his element under MMA rules, he dropped immediately for a double-leg takedown, while Nagashima launched a flying knee square into Aoki’s jaw. The blow instantly knocked out Aoki, after which Nagashima followed up with a number of hammerfists on the supine Aoki. The referee stepped in and stopped the fight four seconds into the period. He was at the UFC 137 press conference and was welcomed to fight in the UFC.

Kron Gracie has been sharpening his MMA skills for the past few months with his father Rickson and at Cesar Gracie’s academy which includes the Diaz brothers.
