From Five Grappling’s website:

For over a year we’ve been planning a Professional League for BJJ and Submission Grappling. We’re excited to announce this August the rest of the FIVE GRAPPLING team will be launching the FIVE GRAPPLING SUPER LEAGUE!

We set high standards for FIVE last year and we’re confident our plans for 5SL will exceed those. On August 2, 2015 we will hold our first exclusive invitational event at Studio 540 in Solana Beach, California.

We chose to use this location because we recognize its become one of SoCal’s jiu-jitsu meccas and we admire the ownership’s vision to offer the highest level of instruction, free of any team or association politics. Although this event will have a very limited and exclusive spectator ticket availability, we will be producing a LIVE stream PPV broadcast with our good friends at Budovideos.

We’ll be releasing further details in the weeks to come, but for now we can tell you: 8 of the world’s best women will be competing for $17,500 in total prize money and 8 of the world’s best men will also be competing for $17,500 in total prize money! Trust us when we say, this event is going to be spectacular!!!

Again, we apologize that we’re postponing all Open tournaments, but we are continuing to work hard on evolving BJJ and Submission Grappling, helping it achieve even greater levels.
