19 year old Jake “The Snake” Beckmann competed in a mixed martial arts fight against the 43-year-old TUF 1 vet Nate Quarry.
The fight was an exhibition bout and it was the dream of Jake, a teenager with Down’s Syndrome.
The exhibition fight happened at ‘Rumble at the Roseland’ event in Portland, US last night. Beckmann submitted Nate Quarry in the second round.
Beckman has been training in MMA for four years. He was confident of his victory over the UFC vet who fought at m iddleweight during his career.
Speaking to KPTV – FOX 12 before the April 18 fight, Beckmann said:
“I’m not afraid of him.
“I can take him.”
The brave teenager’s coach said his student was extremely hard-working and had been looking for a fight for a while.
His coach Greg Walker told WHOATV:
“As he would train with me he would ask me all the time, he would say ‘hey, when can I compete?’ or ‘when can I fight?’ And so over the years I would tell him to keep training,”
Quarry fought a total of 16 MMA fights, winning 12 with seven by knockout. The 6ft star – who is nicknamed Rock – fought between 2001 and 2010.
