Quite a few heated moments have happened in wrestling over the years. Just during the last Olympics there were couple strange incidents.
Angry Mogolian Wrestling Coaches Strip Down In Protest After Loss
But like in most situations Russia takes it to another level – recently at Russian Junior Nationals a referee has struck a coach in the middle of a pre-quarterfinal 66kg bout. The conflict started after a disagreement oveer scoring during a tied match between 2017 Yarygin finalist Cherman Valiev of Ossetia and his opponent, Iman Shamil Magamedov from Dagestan.

The Ossetian coach was in the middle of the mat, discussing with the ref when another larger coach came to pipe in. The ref felt threatened and lashed out hitting the coach in what appears to be the shoulder. The Ossetian coach responded to the attack.
Another one of Valiev’s coaches carried him off of the mat while the original Ossetian coach smacked him repeatedly in the back of the head for his insolence.

This isn’t the first time Russian coach has been involved in an incident so a ref is hardly to blame for jumping the gun, sort of speak. Past September a Russian coach grabbed a ref by the throat.
Of course this is in addition to the gun incident. Luckily nobody was hurt that time.
