UFC’s Aljamain Sterling Set To Compete in Submission-Only Grappling Match

Aljamain Sterling is the latest MMA star to try their hand in grappling. Sterling will be grappling Sergio da Silva in a 10-minute submission-only grappling match at Rise Invitational 2, which takes place Oct. 15 in Westbury, NY.

Sterling had last fought Renan Barao at UFC 214 in July to a decision victory.

His opponent is 6-9 in MMA and last fought at Bellator’s first New York card back in June losing to Matthew Rizzo via 3rd round sub. Da Silva tried to cheat the scale prior to the event and was recently accused of robbing a bank in New York which he denies. The trial is postponed for December.
