Two Suspects Charged in Ryan Jimmo Hit and Run

 

 

Edmonton Police charged two suspects for the death of Ryan Jimmo that ocurred earler this week in Canada.

According to cbc.ca an altercation occurred between the drivers of two vehicles at around 2:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the H2O Lounge, on Whyte Avenue and 101st Street.

The 34-year-old driver of one vehicle walked up to the occupants of the other vehicle. When he began to walk away, police say the suspects’ vehicle accelerated and struck him before leaving the scene.

The Police have released a statement regarding arrests:

Edmonton Police Service Homicide Detectives have laid charges in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred on Sunday, June 26, 2016.

Anthony Getschel, 23, is charged with second degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and fail to stop at scene of accident involving death.

Jordan Wagner, 21, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Ryan Paul Jimmo 34, died as a result of blunt force trauma after being run over by a vehicle in a parking lot just off Whyte Avenue last Sunday. Both individuals charged did not know Jimmo and investigations showed that a brief verbal argument occurred shortly before the incident took place.

 

Ryan Jimmo was born November 27th 1981. Prior to fighting MMA he had a background in Chitō-ryū Karate. He was also an amateur bodybuilder following a karate sustained injury back in 2004.

After acquiring 6-1 MMA record he successfully qualified for the Ultimate Fighter. He was one of the 16 light heavyweights featured on season 8.

Following TUF 8 elimination he returned to MFC where he managed to win and defend the title. His UFC return was in UFC 149 where he won via knockout against Anthony Perosh, tying for fastest knockout in UFC history. His final record stood at 19-5 and his last match was May 30th 2015 loss against Francimar Barroso.
