One of the great things about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are the characters that make up the sport. Here is a list of the funniest people in Jiu-Jitsu in no particular order:

27 times World champion, Ranato Laranja

1. Renato Laranja: The 27 times World Jiu-Jitsu champion, is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu parody made by actor Rhasaan Orange. Rhasaan is actually a Brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu (10th planet) under Eddie Bravo.  The word “Laranja” in Portuguese means “Orange” like Rha*san’s real last name. Renato Laranja is so funny because he is a charicature of so many Brazilians who teach Jiu-Jitsu abroad and who are always preaching the ‘gringos’ what is right and what is wrong. It’s always hilarious. He’s a bit like a crazy version of Rickson/Royce/Renzo/Relson Gracie all into one.

Joe Rogan with Jean Jacques Machado

2. Joe Rogan: He is a long term practitioner of Jiu-Jitsu holding a black belt under Jean Jacques Machado, and also from Eddie Bravo (10th planet style). He is also a stand-up comedian, actor, writer and color commentator. He is best known for playing Joe Garrelli on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio, commentating for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, as well as hosting the NBC reality show Fear Factor and The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. His new show, Joe Rogan Questions Everything, premiered on Syfy in July 2013:

Kit Dale

3. Kit Dale: Australian black belt Kit Dale (see his interview here) is not only an awesome Jiu-Jitsu champion, who has won some high level competitions in Brazil and the World Pro, he is also one of the funniest guys around with new ridiculous videos coming up daily. His Arnold impersonation is awesome:

Joey ‘Coco” Diaz aka Joey Karate

4. Joey ‘Coco’ Diaz aka ‘Joey Karate’: Heis a Cuban-American stand-up comedian and actor known for his recurring role as Joey on the TV series My Name is Earl, as well as in movies such as The Longest Yard and Taxi. He is good friends with Joe Rogan and Eddie Bravo and says that he’s a green belt in Jiu-Jitsu (lol).

Wallid Ismail

5. Wallid Ismail: The Carlson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Champion is probably not trying to be funny but his crazy persona sure is funny. 

Mario Sperry

6. Mario Sperry: Just like Wallid Ismail, he wasn’t trying to be funny but his vale tudo instructional had some hilarious expressions:

7.Kurt Osiander: he is a cult hero in the world of BJJ. He is a old school Ralph Gracie Black Belt with solid credentials and strong lineage. He is loved because he holds nothing back and always speaks his mind. He is also funny as hell and has crazy hair. That’s what we like about him. Here is a collection of his quotes.
