Tanquinho: ADCC is The Only Title I’m Missing

Ahead of the ADCC many were surprised UFC fighter and IBJJF champ Augusto Tanquinho Mendes will be appearing once again.

“ADCC is the only title I’m missing,” says Tanquinho to bjjstyle . “I have been able to get all the other titles in jiu jitsu, so the ADCC is something that I aim for and have always wanted to win. Jiu jitsu isn’t my main goal anymore but, when the schedule works, I will always come and fight at events like the ADCC.”

To step inside a cage for a fight, get out of your comfort zone of being a Jiu-Jitsu black belt world champion and test yourself on a new sport can be scary as dead for a lot people… you need a lot maturity, a desire and a vision to do it. There are no regrets in life, live it fully, face your challenges with no fear, enjoy the preparation and have fun fighting. The glory only comes for who is willing the lose.
Taking off to Finland to fight ADCC one more time! Can’t wait

Of course the upto 66 kg division underwent many changes. Among the names out from this division are retired Rafael Mendes and then Justin Rader, Bruno Frazatto, and Marcio Andre. However with all the changes the definitive favorite to win it all is Cobrinha.

One name added to the division roster is the young Danaher Death Squad member Nicky Ryan.

Still Tanquinho opted to compete once again even though he was unsure for a time due to UFC obligations much like Davi Ramos

I thought for a moment if I could make this work and if I should pull out of the ADCC. But, they invited me in May and I’d said yes already because I was expecting to fight MMA in July or August. The UFC have now booked me in for the end of October, which is tight, but I still have a good five weeks to prepare for my MMA fight – just as long as I don’t get injured here!
