Roger Gracie Returns To Jiu-Jitsu at Pro League HW GP with Buchecha & Galvao

Guess who’s back? The man who holds the most World titles in IBJJF history, Roger Gracie ! Gracie is the 3rd competitor added to the Pro League Heavyweight GP! Who will win the USD $40,000 grand prize?

The first two are Marcus Buchecha and Andre Galvao.

Roger Gracie is regarded as the best competitor of all time by many jiu-jiteiros. Indeed he is a 14x World champion, many of these in the black belt division in addition to 3 absolute World titles.

Back in 2012, he had a superfight with Marcus Buchecha at Metamoris 1 which ended up as a draw. Since then he has competed just once in Jiu-Jitsu, defeating Rodrigo Comprido by submission.

He was supped to rematch Marcus Buchecha once again at Metamoris last year but the match never happened.

Gracie intends to finish his career in Jiu-Jitsu against the 4 time absolute world champion, Buchecha – and in the Gi.

He told GracieMag:

“I want to finish my career in Jiu-Jitsu against Buchecha. We had a fight and was draw. He is the athlete of the moment, and I have no more ambition to win anything in Jiu-Jitsu. My focus is on MMA, but my intention is to end my career in a superfight with Buchecha. If it can’t happen, he can follow me in MMA and I won’t mind too.”
