Rafael Lovato Jr Wins Big Day One of World Masters, More Results

 

 

Rafael Lovato Jr was the stand out of the first day of the World Master Championship taking place in party central, Las Vegas.

Following a victory among Master-1 super heavyweights he went back to fight in the open and beat the competition once again.

Biggest surprise of the Master 1 division was Xande Ribeiro’s loss to Eliot Kelly in the semifinal of the super heavyweight class. Kelly lost to above mentioned Lovato Jr in the finals.

Later that same day Lovato fought in the Absolute category and closed it out with Xande Ribeiro who won 7-0 against Rafael Formiga in semifinals.

Elsewhere on the same day, Romulo Barral won gold as he closed out the final of the heavyweights master 1 division with his teammate Roberto Tussa.

Former UFC fighter, ADCC champion Vinny Magalhaes scored a victory against James Pupolo 1-0 on advantages to win the ultra heavyweight.

In the featherweight division Queixinho shined and won his division, closing it out with Diego Bispo. 

Master 2 divisions were quite exciting as well. 3x World Champion Vitor Shaolin was dominating everyone on his path.He didn’t have the easiest time becoming the victor of the category – had to beat Cicero Costha in the seminal only to win 6-0 in the finals against Marcelo Motta.

Flavio Cachorrinho Almeida managed to secure a double gold at Master 2 level. To secure the heavyweight division he went through former UFCer Fabricio Morango for the title.

Later on he was featured in the open class where he defeated the ultra heavy champion Tiago Almeida.

Carlson Gracie Team made no secret of how much this performance means to them as a tribute to the late legend so it’s no surprise Carlos Manimal students Antonio Canudo and Raphael Abi-Rihan gave their all and managed to close out the Master 2 medium Heavyweight division.

Ultra Heavyweight division featured an upset  –Viktor Doria won the gold defeating Bruno Bastos 1-0 on advantages.
