Martial Arts Instructor Suspected of Raping Student, Sending Nudes

Martial Arts Instructor Suspected of Raping Student, Sending Nudes

 

 

Self defense instructor out of Robert Morrison has been teaching self defense for children for a while now. But now the police in small town of Renton have revealed he is suspected of repeatedly raping a 15 year old female student of his.

Morrison owns Lee’s Martial Arts in Renton, and a second studio in Maple Valley.

In addition to this grave offense, he’s also suspected of sending nude pictures of himself to his victim as well as at least 3 other teenage students.

According to Commander David Leibman of the Renton Police Department, the investigation began when Washington State Child Protective Services received a complaint from an acquaintance of Morrison’s that Morrison was engaged in inappropriate behavior with one student.

Once contacted, the student told investigators that she was 15 years old when Morrison began developing a sexual relationship with her. Two other students, who attend the Maple Valley facility, have come forward, saying that that Morrison sent them inappropriate pictures on Snapchat.

 

Wednesday’s arrest led to Renton detectives serving search warrants today on both Morrison’s Bellevue home and his Renton martial arts studio.

Renton police detectives entered Lee’s Martial Arts just after noon on Thursday, looking for evidence in the case they’re building against Morrison.

A woman who knows Morrison and his alleged victim told KIRO 7, “I just had a weird, gut feeling that something was off.”  The woman didn’t want to be identified, but said she’s very “relieved and happy that he is away from a business that has a bunch of kids, and little girls.”
“Those young girls don’t have a voice and now they do,” she said, while standing outside Lee’s Martial Arts. “He has taken something from them that’s going to be hard and challenging down the road for them.”

In addition to all of this the Sheriff’s Office detailed:

“The messages consisted of a photo of him nude with a caption partially covering his penis. There was also a text message of ‘did you remember to brush your teeth’,” according to the King County Sheriff’s Office report.

 

Robert Morrison did not appear at his probable cause hearing Thursday afternoon on four counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and one count of rape of a child in the third degree and waived his right to bail and was remanded back to jail.
