Johny Hendricks Talks How Gi Training Helped Him Get His Cardio At All Time High

 

 

Johny Hendricks fought Hector Lombard in the UFC octagon last night. Prior to their bout Hendricks had huge issues with weight cutting having missed weight several times prior to trying his luck in the new division.

Hendricks managed to secure a steady decision victory against Lombard via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) and Hendricks is determined his cardio could get even better.  In fact he seems both rejuvenated and excited by this development. According to what he said at the Post Fight Press Conference, much has changed in his regimen in the last 5 weeks:

“It became a joy. It became fun again I became excited again to do this sport. ”

Gi training has played a huge part in his preparation:

“On Tuesday I did 4,5 rounds with a Gi – Gameness with some guys. They’re very talented, Juan and Marco… I’ve been rolling in a gi twice a week, I’ve been striking.. You tell me what hasn’t changed in my game in the last 5 weeks… “
