Dillon Danis made quite a few controversial statements leading upto the match so he was naturally quite irked by not being able to back up all his words at the actual 4th edition of the Submission Underground event.
Main event saw him narrowly defeated by Jake Shields who is quite a bit older. Naturally loudmouthed Danis then had to face an onslaught on social media.

Faced with all this and a whole lot more Danis had to say something. Here’s his statement:
I show up to any rule set- Gi or No Gi and will take my losses like a man. Jake survived a 10 min onslaught of my submissions to beat me in the overtime round by 8 seconds for fastest escape, fair play to him he is a legend. I still believe in myself 100% and this will not define me. You will all swallow your words keep basking in a other mans struggles i’ll remember everything.
Still no words can really excuse the performance. Danis was largely stagnant – seems like majority of his gameplay consisted of waiting for Shields to go for a takedown and then respond via guillotine. Shields was certainly prepared and he toughed out some of the hardest positions only to triumph in the overtime.
