Cicero Costha team was along with their preparations for both the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam and the Europeans when they hit a huge snag.
Allegeldly a travel agent took the money for tickets without delivering any leaving them scrambling to pay again and largely unable to travel.
As Silvio Cavans told flograppling:
“Many guys from Cicero Costha’s, more than 30, signed up for the Europeans,” says Silvio Cavans, a purple belt from the PSLPB Cicero Costha team.
Only eight didn’t buy with this supposed travel agent. I lost 2000 reais (approx $625), but I had friends and training partners who lost a lot more.
The alleged travel agent named Junior or Floripa started selling travel packages to the team in late 2016. A number of them bought the travel arrangements from him including several athletes who lost a huge amount of money due to arranging the trips to Abu Dhabi, Portugal an London all at the same time.
Well-known athletes, including Soares, Italo Moura and Jonas Andrade from the Cicero Costha team, lost their money and will be unable to go to Europeans due to the financial loss.
