Buchecha Talks IBJJF Grand Prix And Plan for ADCC -“I’m Prepared For Everything”

Marcus Almeida Buchecha has had a peculiar year. After re-asserting himself as the double gold World champion once again he got an anticipated rematch scheduled – one against Roger Gracie. This is of course in addition to reprising his success later at the IBJJF heavyweight grand prix for a hefty prize sum – 40.000$.

As for the Grand prix, his biggest competition was frequent training partner – Leandro Lo. Here’s how Buchecha described the competition:

“It was a very good competition, where I had three hard fights. The first was against Dimitrius, a guy I’d never fought with, so I tried to control, warm my body. Then, against Joao Gabriel, with his body warm, I let go and finished. Finally, in the decision against Leandro Lo, my brother, a very hard fight, a draw. There the refs could have given it to anyone, but they ended up giving it to me. It was a very close fight, but it worked out, “he said in an interview with TATAME.

Of course Buchecha is in Finaland, looking to conquer the ADCC. For this occasion he has been preparing with the help of Chekmat headmaster – Leo Vieira:

I have not seen the names of my category yet, but I’m prepared for everything. I worry more about my game, putting my pace in the fight, so I go there to get the hell out and do what I like best.

as for Leo Vieira Buchecha said he looks forward to seeing him back on the mat:

“He is a magician, a legend. I’m following his daily practice, it’ll be fine. I look forward to seeing him in action”
