BJJ Practitioner/Counter Terrorist Specialist on How To Survive The Las Vegas Shooting

On the evening of October 1, 2017, a mass shooting occurred at the Route 91 Harvest music festival on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, a town adjacent to Las Vegas, Nevada. During the closing performance by singer Jason Aldean, a gunman opened fire on the outdoor festival crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort and casino.

The shooter, whose motive remains unknown, was 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. After firing into the crowd for almost 11 minutes, he was found dead in his hotel room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. With 59 deaths (including the perpetrator) and 489 injuries, the massacre is the deadliest mass shooting by a lone shooter in U.S. history.

Fifty-eight people (not counting the shooter) were killed as a result of the shootings, including three who died in the days immediately after the incident. An additional 489 people were injured. Many were sent to hospitals that included the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center.

Israeli counter terrorist specialist, former federal air marshall and BJJ purple belt Itamar Marani discusses how to stay safe in such a setting:

“How to survive a Mass Shooting – The Mandalay Bay Shooting in Las Vegas”

Felt obliged to create this video today. So as most of you know I work in the private security sector. I’m a former federal air marshal and have a background in counter-terrorism.

I’ve been seeing a lot of reporting in regards to these horrific attacks, but nothing more than that. Nothing that helps the general public moving forward.

The way the world is trending it seems that horrific attacks like these, regardless of the motives behind them, will continue to happen.

So I wanted to help the general public understand why the attacker chose the method of attack that he did. Why it was available to him and what can be done in real time by the victims to make it as unavailable and as difficult as possible for the attacker and by thus giving themselves a better chance to come out alive.
Ask yourself “what would I do if I were caught in that shooting? In that split second where it goes from being a fun night out with friends/family, where you might be having a drink and music is blaring to complete and total CHAOS what would I do? How would I react?”

If you don’t know please watch the video below.

I also want to take this chance to send out my deepest condolences to everyone out there who were somehow affected by this horrific attack.

Please share this important tool with your friends, family and loved ones.
Stay safe.
